Made by hand, mostly at night.
I sew my own clothes in a small room with an old machine. This is the reel of what came off it lately, newest first.
The room · 2026
Grey wool coat
Wool melton, dark collar
The pattern came off a raincoat I liked and wore to death. Three weekends, one of them spent only on the collar. It got heavier than planned and I'm fine with that.
Chambray shirt
Cotton chambray
Second attempt at this shirt. The first one had the pocket on the wrong side and nobody said anything for two weeks. This one is right.
High-rise trousers
Navy wool flannel
The machine was being difficult that week, so the inside seams were felled by hand over a few evenings. The rise finally sits where it should.
Floral tea dress
Printed viscose
Fabric from the Saturday market, two metres for not much money. Bias cut, which looks lovely and was a pain to hem. Would do it again anyway.
Quilted vest
Olive cotton, wool batting
Made for cycling in November. The walking foot stopped the layers from creeping, which I should have figured out years ago. Pockets big enough for gloves.
Wide pleated trousers
Navy cotton twill
Loosely based on hakama. The pleats took a whole evening at the ironing board and they still want to fall out after a wash. Worth it.
Linen camp shirt
Washed linen
Gave it away before I photographed it, which tells you how it turned out. Making another one in the same linen.
Hi. I'm the one at the machine.
Hi. I'm the one at the machine. By day I do something else entirely. In the evenings I cut, pin and sew in a small room that has far too much fabric in it.
It started with a torn pair of jeans a few years ago. I fixed them, badly, and liked it enough to keep going. Now most of what I wear started as a flat piece of cloth on that table.
Nothing here is for sale. I put things up so friends can see them and so I keep finishing what I start.

Made by hand in a small room. There's nothing for sale here, I just like showing what I made. New pieces land at the front of the reel when they're photographed.
